Special Request for Help
To all our 1,610 supporters of HDHM Ministry,
I am being called into action by the Director of Social Services in New Milford CT. who on February 3 may have to close her food pantry due to lack of food for her VERY needy clients in her community. I am setting my garage up as a Food Receiving Depot with 100 empty boxes which I would very much like to fill and deliver to New Milford on Monday morning February 13 to keep the doors open for the 85-95 families they feed each week. Our 100 cases will carry them for about 3 months to get them through the winter, but it can only be done with your help.
Option 1--If you can drop at my garage doors (where there will be a table for your grocery donations) from now until February 12 such items as peanut butter and jelly, dry cereal, pasta-canned and dry, mac and cheese, pasta sauce, canned soups, cosmetics, tuna, mayo/mustard/ketchup, boxed juices for kids, paper goods, snack foods,or other items you may have extras of, or sale items, you will be a hero.
Option 2--If you are unable to get to the store and would like to have me shop for you with your financial donation you can mail to my home at 26 Shamrock Drive, Brookfield CT. 06804, I would be most happy to assist. The Tax Deductible check should be payable to HDHM Ministry.
Option 3--If you belong to a youth group, scout troop, High School students for service (SOS) organization, athletic team, this would be a perfect community service project for your friends and parents to support.
Option 4--If you own your own corporation, or have a community service manager in a company you can set up a depot in your office for your employees and I could come and make the pick up on the 10th of Feb.
Option 5--If you are a church pastor or a member of a church community, an appeal from the pulpit would be of significant help in raising awareness of this special need.
Please see below the e mail I received that underscores the real need for these neighbors of ours in deep trouble.
Dear Mr. Brady,
"I am writing to let you know that the New Milford Food Bank is extremely low on supplies at this time. We could help families for about three more weeks before being fully depleted. I would appreciate your alerting your respective HDHM organization with an appeal for donations of non-perishable goods: peanut butter and jelly, cereal, pasta sauce, mac and cheese, canned soup, fruit and veggies, tuna and the like. These staples help supplement many resident’s tight budgets. We currently help between 85 and 95 households weekly with a bag of groceries."
