HDHM Free Car Winner

A week ago we offered a donated car to the most in need and the vote by the committee after reviewing 15 profiles of some very worthy candidates. If we had 14 other cars they would all win one, but we only had one.

I urge you to look at the photos and then please read Mary's profile. If Mary did not have bad luck, she would have no luck at all. "And we think we have problems".

Only 85,000 miles

Dear Mr. Brady,

My need for a reliable car:

My name is Mary, a member of Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, and I am a veteran of the Army National Guard (1982-1989) now age 43, and find myself homeless for the second time. My apartment building caught fire and I lost everything in 1996, which had me on the street with nothing to claim but the clothes on my back. I was in two auto accidents, none of which were caused by me, but I was hit from behind, and that left me in Veterans hospitals for months. In 1997 I was hit from behind by a large truck and pushed over a cliff at Squantz Pond New Fairfield CT. and presumed to be dead when the medics arrived. With the help of God, I survived but the accident left me with 80% of my teeth damaged, but with no dental insurance from the VA, I can not have my appearance improved and currently live everyday with the roots exposed from the remaining teeth which is sometimes painful to say the least.

I have a special need for a car to replace my 1989 auto with 200,000+ miles in major disrepair because I need to visit my VA doctors about 40 miles away 2 times a week for therapy and without the visits, I am in big trouble. I have had several important jobs in my career, but my health has slowed me down considerably with the latest being heart trouble cause by the two car accidents and my time in the service. . My three life threatening issues are: 1. Mitralvalve Prolapse 2. Atrial Septal Aneurysm 3. PFO shunt.

I have no family when my dad died recently after he was married several times, and my mother has lived in a mental facility for several years. We have no contact as she is very far away. I live on the VA disability program, as well as Social Security Disability both of which are not very much. I love to work and volunteer, but am limited to where the car will take me and the cost to repair the vehicle. With a reliable car, I can get a good job and still be an active member of my Church where I can serve others in the Name of the Lord.

I am and educated person having received my Undergraduate Degree from Wes Conn in 1986, and my Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Affairs in 1993. I am also an accomplished musician having played the French horn, Trumpet, and Baritone Horn in the Military band. If it wasn't for my bad luck, I would have no luck at all. I am however determined to make it through my current difficulties and survive in this great community here in CT.

If your committee would consider me for this wonderful car, I would be very grateful. I first thank the Lord for this new lease on life, and I thank my friend from Church for advising me of this hdhm opportunity. Thanks you for any consideration.

Respectfully Submitted:
Mary XXXXXXXX
