America's Ultimate Volunteer Search

The View launched its search for this super-volunteer in late September, encouraging viewers to log on to its website to nominate individuals in their local communities who go above and beyond to help others, and who inspire others to take action.

ABC has a longstanding tradition of utilizing the vast reach of the network to improve America’s communities through its A Better Community campaign. The focus is motivating viewers to get involved in building better communities through volunteerism. It is our belief that everyone has the power to make a difference and we have been on a mission to inspire viewers to do just that.

Now America, ABC and Emmy award-winning show The View are on a search for the ultimate volunteer!!!!

In celebration of the efforts that so many people make, we are looking for the Ultimate Volunteer – someone who selflessly gives to others, who asks for nothing in return and inspires others to volunteer. The Contest Entry Period has come to an end, but don’t forget to place your vote and help us determine who the Ultimate Volunteer is by clicking here. The winner will receive One Million Starpoints from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii which is equivalent to 25 round trip tickets from Los Angeles to Honolulu or a five night stay at The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort for 10 years…and these are only a couple examples.

Voting will be open from October 6th through October 11th. The winner will be announced on The View the week of October 18th.

Peter Brady

Nominator: Kerri Brady

In 1999, Peter Brady tapped into a spiritual calling to serve his community. With only 10 volunteers, consisting mostly of family friends and 2 clients, Peter embarked on what would become the Handy Dandy Handy Man non-profit organization, servicing over 300+ clients with the dedicated staff of volunteers (over 1000+ and growing). Guided by the Holy Spirit, Peter's energy, organizational abilities and leadership skills, have inspired magnanimous volunteer efforts, that service seven towns and include efforts ranging from home repairs, cleaning yards and other odd jobs to organizing annual community and fundraising events, completing home makeovers and managing an e-newsletter, aptly titled "Pete's Repeats", matching individuals in need of amenities and services with giving donors. Peter's initiative, drive, dedication, and selflessness is infectious, inspiring volunteers ages 6-86, including all professions, socioeconomic statuses and skill levels. Whether you are a 10 yr old wearing you're red shirt, experiencing volunteerism for the first time at the annual Rake and Bake, or a quadriplegic receiving a power wheelchair donated to you by a stranger having heard about you're story after meeting Peter, the essence and joy of what it means to give and receive, as exemplified by Peter, is overwhelming. He not only gives of himself, but inspires others to do the same. Though not expectantly, Peter's infectious volunteerism has been acknowledged through awards and praised by community organizations, sociopolitical leaders and local media. Peter as the "ultimate volunteer" is an understatement. I am honored to sponsor his nomination in this esteemed role.
